History of Asbestos and Mesothelioma

Bookmark and Share
The days of the 20th century Asbestos is widely used in manufacturing and construction for fireproofing and is material which has the properties of retaining heat.

Until in 1960 did not find any relationship between asbestos and mesothelioma disease. In 1960 it showed that high levels of performance for employees who work with asbestos resulted in the emergence of a growing risk of mesothelioma.

Both types of asbestos can cause mesothelioma is a serpentine or asbestos fibers corkscrew curls and Amfibol or rod-shaped fibers. Because insoluble fiber material, it is predicted that their body's reaction triggers the formation of mesothelioma.

In 1986 Asbestos banned in the United States and in 1999 also banned in the UK. There has been a recent increase in diagnosed cases of mesothelioma. This is a small part due to better awareness of the disease, but unfortunately more due to the fact that generally takes 20 years before the signs of the first patient showed symptoms of mesothelioma.

The case will continue to increase until 2020 after Britain banned the use of asbestos. Although the U.S. and Britain both have banned the use of asbestos, people are still a lot of exposure to asbestos, especially in old buildings.
